Snowed In!

Monday, February 13th, 2006

Image_00087Image_00088It snowed 24 hours from Saturday afternoon till Sunday! The second worst New York has seen in history. 17 inches of snow in some places apparently. The picture on the left was taken Sunday night on my way to my friend’s place for dinner - (yeah, the food was worth the trudge). And the picture on the right was on Monday, on my first day of school for the 4th semester. By this time the snow was melting and was slushy and dangerous to tread on. So if you’ve never been in snow, like I hadn’t a year ago, it’s not all pretty like in the Chronicles of Narnia.

Madonna vs Sam

Madonna_die_another_daySamantha

I am excited all over again about Madonna and inspired by her. She’s reinvented herself yet again and for someone at 47, she’s certainly rockin’! She’s the one person that I want to see (better yet meet)in person that I haven’t. The great news is… she’s going on a summer tour! Can’t wait.

So anyway, my 3rd semester is over and I’m starting my 4th. I’ve never had a closer knit class than my previous one and they will surely be missed. One girl, Samantha, had to return to Canada - (doesn’t she look kinda like Madonna?) She will surely be missed. You have to meet her to understand. She’s the most energetic, quirky, unique, interesting and phenomenal individual anyone can meet.

I spent my last week of school (which was final presentations week) sick, so that was really hard. I’m not sure if I’ll get straight As this time, but I made the top 3 musical theater performances and was selected as one of the top 20 to showcase my monologue. Here’s to the final semester!

Sondheim Signing

Sweeney_todd_cdSondheim_signsSweeney Todd has a new Broadway Cast recording out and Stephen Sondheim was present the launch of the album. Fans would know that Sondheim hates interviews and public appearances in general, so this was a rare treat indeed! And I was there! He was in a great mood (enhanced by the white wine) and so was everyone else including Patti Lupone and Michael Cerveris. Okay, so I wasn’t supposed to take a picture but that was what actually got Stephen’s attention as a lady politely told me not to. He looked up and simply shrugged at me and smiled and said as-a-matter-of-factly that it would just slow things down. But then there was all this time as he was waiting for Patti to slide down the next CD, so he just looked at me and I looked at him. I was devoid of any intelligent to say. And that was that.
