IMDBed!

Buddha01I had long forgotten about my voiceover work for India’s first 2D animated film, The Legend of Buddha. I’m still eagerly anticipating its release either in Singapore or the US which I understand will happen. I was very excited to find on several websites that the film was one of the 11 nominees at this year’s Oscars for Best Animated Film! Once the credits have been updated onto the Internet Movie Database (IMDB), I will officially have two credits under my name there. =) Click here for the trailer. And here for the IMDB link.

If you didn’t know, I also have a yahoogroup and I’ve just added some new pictures, articles and song demos there.

A Woman of Will - Leigh McDonald

Image_00239It’s been another lovely weekend for me. The days are never long enough. I feel terribly bad that I haven’t had time to hang out with the many people I do want to hang out with. I realise my social life here really suffers because coming to New York (and spending my entire life savings) is still primarily for me to work and learn. So my choices have been geared towards those experiences.

This past week, I caught "Lennon" the musical which unfortunately is closing on Broadway. And also the off-Broadway show, "A Woman of Will" which I highly recommend. In fact, it might even be more enjoyable than "Lennon" (not to put "Lennon" down, but really to praise "A Woman of Will’ quite highly). Check out the website at www.awomanofwill.com - I think my great friend Leigh McDonald could play her. She needs to do this musical in Singapore! Leigh! Go for it!

Forbidden_citySpeaking of which, Leigh and I did a musical together sometime back and I found that the cast recording availble on the Footlight.com website at http://www.footlight.com/product.cfm?product_id=30931 .That’s pretty international and I’m happy for it. "Avatar", the movie I was in also just premiered on TV.

HarrietThis is a picture taken from the Dorothy Sayers movie I mentioned in my previous blog entry. It’s a picture of the lead character Harriet Vane. But it also looks like Leigh McDonald and I’m sure if you know Leigh, you would quite agree with me, with much amusement no doubt. =)

Central Park, the Sun and the Sky

Yale_dinnerThis might just be the most eventful blog entry yet, most if it describing weekend events. The first picture shows ONE table of hors d’oeuvres at a recent Yale dinner I went to in New Haven. Daniel invited me over as a guest for the start of his school term. I was full even before the main course started, not to mention moderately inebriated. I tried getting tickets to the free Shakespeare in the Park musical performance of "Two Gentlemen of Verona". Unfortunately, the line was too long and I didn’t get any, but if anything, it forced me to find time out of my busy schedule to sit in the park and I actually loved it! I also had a great conversation with a lady in line.

Image_00232The second picture shows a word of a sentence (which I couldn’t make out because of the trees) that these five little planes in the sky were spelling from little cloud like globules they were spouting. I also went to watched the off Broadway musical, "Once Around the Sun" with and kindly sponsored by Kiat Sing.  I found myself really being able to breakdown what I was watching more than before till I actually felt I had to give notes for the production. I think I’m ready to direct!

Among other things, I got a new job at the school library, made my room as roach resistant as possible, made the most fabulous japanese curry rice for myself, bumped into Victoria Clark while grocery shopping (she’s the Best Actress in a Musical at this year’s Tony Awards for "Light in the Piazza") and just basically got to enjoy life a little here.

Corpse_brideI just watched Tim Burton’s "A Nightmare Before Christmas". I really loved it in so many ways. Now I can’t wait for "Corpse Bride". The flash website is just so well integrated. Please check it out: http://corpsebridemovie.warnerbros.com/

It being Sept 11 today, I wanted to ask for you to take some time in remembrance of victims of the attacks exactly 4 years ago. Also, let’s not forget the people who suffered in the recent Tsunami disaster and more recent Hurricane Katrina one too.

New Space

Tuesday, September 6th, 2005

Image_00225Image_00219Hurray! I have a new space. I have finally and successfully moved between apartments. And I actually like my room in this apartment better! I find that these days, I’ve become more distracted with life than with school. Which, if it doesn’t last too long, isn’t a bad thing. I’m 5 weeks away from finishing my 2nd semester, also from reaching the half way point of my course. Okay, back to frivolous decor talk. So I’m aiming for a lilac and maroon theme and so far so good. I’ve a big comfy red cushion right in the center to plop myself onto and cushy reading couch I inherited from the previous tenant. It’s not like I don’t have a bed already but the more the merrier! I work hard you know!
